Michael Appleby has won this for the past two years and though Hijran has been unplaced in all three runs on Polytrack she's won twice over the trip on Turf so has to be respected. Stosur is rarely beaten far and is only 2lb higher than her latest victory in a better class race than this at Chelmsford in August but African Showgirl, who completed a double in minor handicaps on Turf in August, has struggled subsequently from her increased mark. Arcane Dancer, who won over the track and trip a year ago, is 8lb higher after two victories at Beverley while Sattelac, who makes her debut on an artificial surface, could find this on the short side. DUSKY DAWN won a course and distance maiden in April before racing in better class handicaps than this. She probably just needed last week's run on the track after a break and can return to winning ways.
