Chigorin's career record is far from impressive - 1/35 - but he has been running well enough in recent times to suggest a second victory is not far away. He has been edged up 4lb for his second behind the well handicapped Yellow Flag last time but a repeat of his second over course and distance three starts back behind the unexposed Rathmullen would see him go very close. The unexposed Charge It is clearly the one to beat. Five outings throughout last summer failed to indicate that he had any ability but since appearing over fences recently he is a different horse. A 9lb rise for his last victory may not be enough to stop this improving sort. Kirby's Vic is consistent and while holding Leading Article, the overall form of those events does not look strong as they were well strung out.
