In depth

Verdict

Those with form have shown little to get excited about, so a chance is taken with GOOD HUMOURED - a well-bred newcomer from the Sir Mark Prescott yard. Another Newmarket handler, Ed Vaughan, is also well represented and the betting will tell the story about Aaman and Hawk's Eye. The last named showed improvement from his debut to finish fourth in a Windsor maiden at the end of September. However, he also showed he has inherited a bit of Hawk Wing¿s temperament by running with an unsightly high head carriage. Still, he did stay on powerfully near the line and created the impression he can pay his way before too long. Aaman is related to a handful of winners and is one to note for signs of support. Captain Kallis registered his best effort to date here a fortnight ago but he is exposed as ordinary and the form will not amount to much if he were to pull this out of the fire today. Therefore, it can pay to take a chance on the potential of Good Humoured, who is by Rock Of Gibraltar out of a half-sister to the former classy sprinter Danehurst. It is unfeasible to think the colt will not improve for the run and his trainer¿s undoubtedly patient approach with two-year-olds precludes a maximum play. However, this is an ordinary contest and Good Humoured will not have to be a world beater to get off the mark at the first time of asking.
