Verdict

USQUAEBACH is the pick in the finale with Tom Wade and Consult as the alternatives. A winner of two races at Lingfield, he had performed respectably on this surface when trained by Hugh Collingridge so the switch back to fibresand will not be an issue. Tom Wade is very well bred though has not really cut the mustard as yet. The step up in trip looks one more of desperation rather than conviction. Best Of Broadway would be of interest were the market to speak in his favour. Anaya is tried in a first time visor. She performed creditably in a Newcastle maiden at the back end of last term though has yet to conclusively prove that she has trained on since. Consult is rated just 45 and is first time out in a handicap for Sir Mark Prescott. It would be no surprise to see him leave that form well behind and the bookmakers are likely to price accordingly. You should never be afraid of one horse and despite the form of the Prescott stable, Usquaebach might just prove too good for him today.
