CALMDOWNMATE is due a victory at Southwell and he may be capable of gaining it over Gracie's Gift and Mey Blossom. Ruth Carr's horses are in decent order at the moment and with proven placed form over course-and-distance, there are plenty of positives to be gleaned here. Gracie's Gift was second on the turf at Nottingham. He gets to try again off the same mark this afternoon. Mey Blossom unseated the rider last time out but as a son of Captain Rio, there is a strong likelihood that he will be able to act upon Southwell's fibresand. Peter's Gift is tried again in blinkers. They did not seem to make much difference last time but they are probably on in order to avoid kickback. Albero Di Giuda is noted in the market as he is from a shrewd yard. Guertino was rated 89 when trained by Brian Smart though seems to have completely lost his way since. Wainwright placed off higher marks for Paul Blockley though it is difficult to know how much ability he retains. Andrasta has an interesting jockey booking though hasn't made a habit of winning first time out. Calmdownmate is the call.
