      In depth

      Verdict

A relatively open looking contest here, where a few of them have chances, but the preference goes to the in-form Misty Future to defy a penalty, with Sonny Jim, Scarface and Golfagent also worth noting. Misty Future was very game indeed when running on well to hold off Ela La Senza at Stratford over a similar trip last time, and despite having to work hard, the gelding looks tough and genuine. Against opponents here who are not in the best of form, he may well be capable of defying the 7lb penalty and backing up with another win. Lightweight Sonny Jim can also be given a chance, provided he can return to the sort of form that enabled him to land a two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Worcester on his penultimate start. The gelding went up 9lb for that win, but we had little chance to see how he fared with the extra burden as he unseated at the first last time. A better effort is expected here and he could go close. Golfagent is another capable sort, but though he is likely to give his usual genuine effort, he looks to be in the grip of the handicapper at present, while Scarface is running much better now he had dropped down the weights and over a trip he loves, could claim a place behind the selection Misty Future.
