In depth

Verdict

MISS CHRISTOPHENE was narrowly denied last time and can gain quick compensation from Bushy Dell and Look Officer. Sue Lamyman's charge was considered to be lacking for fitness when beaten a head here in mid-February, so a 2lb rise might not be enough to prevent her going one better. Both of the filly's career wins have come here and she sees out the distance well, so in a tricky race she's the one to beat. Bushy Dell ran better than the bare form suggests on her sole try here and could do better if more patient tactics are adopted. She's down to a winning mark having won off 65 back in September and should go close if her rider gets the tactics right. Look Officer likes it here so she has claims despite being 6lbs higher than when last successful, especially as this extra furlong in trip should help bring about more improvement. Whooshka would have excellent claims if back in the same form as when she made a winning debut, but her efforts since have been modest and she needs to improve appreciably for the switch to Fibresand. Admittedly, that is possible, but on balance we prefer to look elsewhere and do so in the shape of Miss Christophene.
