This final race should not take too much winning and although it is difficult to enthuse about any of these, Middleham Park could prove best of a bad bunch, with the two ex Irish runners Trance and Devious Paddy named as possible dangers. Pat Haslam still has his string in fine form and although this is no stable star at least he does have form here at Southwell. He finished a close second behind Terraquin in May and a repeat of that run should be enough to land this. Trance could be the best of the two exports having finished runner up in a decent handicap at Limerick back in June. Devious Paddy has gone off the boil after running third in a good maiden at Rosscommon, and so it is with some reluctance that Middleham Park is offered up as the selection.
