In depth

Verdict

In the fillies' maiden, Empress Olga is selected ahead of Verone and Princess Palatine. A good second to Madrigale at Lingfield last time, Empress Olga holds solid claims here, although the fact that her stable was under a cloud recently tempers strong confidence. A soft-ground second at Catterick last time, Princess Palatine's form is not far behind hers, though, and she can go well today. The Irish raider Viami has shown some promise, which is more than can be said for the others, and the interesting newcomer is the 60,000 dollars purchase, Verone, a half-sister to six winners, including the top-class Flemensfirth. She is of great interest, but the selection is Empress Olga.
