Vegas Boys ran three reasonable races on the all-weather and returns to the turf on a fair mark but may find the ground too testing so Michael Wigham's gelding looks worth taking on with preference for Winthorpe, who gets the vote ahead of Mannello. The last mentioned is less exposed than most of these and has run well on a soft surface before so has claims if fit enough for his return. Monte Major has been running with credit on the sand and remains on a fair mark for his return to turf, while Soba Jones has been in good form on the all-weather but does most of his racing on that surface now so may be best watched today. Similar comments apply to Desert Light and of more interest may be Middle Eastern from the in-form Paul Blockley stable. Winthorpe has been given a chance by the handicapper though and he gets the vote.
