In depth

Verdict

A typically competitive sprint handicap, with no less than six course and distance winners in the field. The tough and consistent mare Strawberry Dawn, just looks as though she could do with a little respite from the Handicapper, although she is closely matched with the disappointing Acorazado on their running here back in February, where they filled the first two places. The latter has since disappointed at Wolverhampton when a well backed favourite and doesn't look one to rely on. Prime Recreation is another who is closely matched with Strawberry Dawn, but this dual course and distance winner can actually run off a 2lbs lower mark than when defeating Juwwi here last year. He comes into this in good form and will be difficult to beat. However, the vote goes to Hawk, who can be forgiven his last run as he was drawn on the wrong side and he is better judged on his run here last month behind Quiet Times. Dandy Nicholl's five-year-old, who was making his seasonal debut that day, was having his first taste of the All-Weather and can be expected to have come on for that effort. Others of note include Mutasawar, one of Milton Bradley's four runners, who despite his advancing years, still retains his enthusiasm and Henry Tun, who confirmed his well being when just touched off by Prima Stella in a claimer at Wolverhampton, on 23lbs worse terms than what he would have met the winner in a handicap. A repetition of that effort would see him go close in this.
