Andrew Balding has a fine record in identifying the right sorts to handle this specialised surface and SEASEARCH (NAP) made a spectacular debut here last month with a 23l romp. He followed up with a decisive success at Wolverhampton and is hard to oppose despite being a stone higher in the ratings. Mr Carbonator is a dual scorer here but has struggled since the handicapper handed out some punishment. He had Dorian Gray well behind last December but the Morrison inmate has improved since and could prove the main danger on the back of a cosy Lingfield success recently. Sincerely Resdev represents an in-form yard but needs major improvement to contend now.
Mr Carbonator 8-1 (9-2) Held up, ridden over 2f out, kept on, not trouble leaders, 5th of 9, 3 3/4l behind Poet's Prince (9-7) at Southwell 1m hcp (5) pol in Mar.
Seasearch 5-4fav (9-1) Slow into stride, tracked leader after 1f, joined leader over 2f out, led over 1f out, edged left and ridden out, won at Wolverhampton 1m 4f hcp (6) pol in Mar beating Sunhill Lad (9-7) by 3l, 5 ran.
Sincerely Resdev 40-1 (9-2) Chased leaders, ridden over 3f out, weakened over 2f out, 4th of 5, 15 1/4l behind Wax And Wane (9-9) at Ayr 1m stks (4) hvy in Oct.
Dorian Gray (IRE) 8-1 (9-1) Made most, ridden out final furlong, won at Lingfield 1m 2f hcp (6) pol in Mar beating Four Fifty Three (9-7) by 1 1/2l, 8 ran.
