In depth

Verdict

WIN BRIGHT produced an outstanding performance to land the prestigious QEII Cup here in April, cracking the course record in the process. He hasn't been in that sort of form in his two recent runs but will be tuned up for this. Furore, who was the champion four-year-old in Hong Kong last season, was eventually well beaten in the QEII but returned to form behind Exultant last time. The last two winners of this, the full-brothers Time Warp and Glorious Forever, both had every chance in the QEII but couldn't match the winner's finishing burst. Rise High ended Beauty Generation's long winning streak in a Grade 2 in October. That was over a mile but he's just as effective over this trip and further as he showed when a close second to Exultant over 1m4f in May when Dark Dream wasn't far behind in third. Edisa is progressing nicely but this looks too tough and though Magic Wand finally got her elusive Group 1 victory on her eleventh start of the season in the Mackinnon at Flemington she'll need a bit more here.
