Red Cadeaux won this by a short-head last year when Dunaden was behind. He's drawn slightly wider this time but it won't be a problem and the fact that he missed the Japan Cup should be a bonus. Dunaden had won the previous year's renewal with Red Cadeaux just behind and he ran well in the Japan Cup a fortnight ago after a moderate effort in the Melbourne Cup, the race he won in 2011 when beating his old rival a nose. Mount Athos ran a brilliant race at Flemington and this will be only his sixth race of the year though he did have a hard race. The one they all have to beat is THE FUGUE, in superb form when landing the Yorkshire Oaks and the Irish Champion Stakes before an unlucky run in the Breeders' Cup Turf where she was mugged on the line by Magician.
