Verdict

Horward Johnson's SILK DRUM looks to have this race at his mercy with We're Delighted and Dry Speedfit likely to fight over the minor places. The selection romped to a 19th length victory in a similar contest over on his hurdles debut at Kelso on his penultimate start and followed that up with a second of seven, by just over a length, in listed company last time out. Not the most fluent jumper but on that evidence he is clearly the one to beat. We're Delighted has some winning form on the flat and takes to hurdles for the first time here. Generally running in poor contests on the level he will at least like the ground conditions and has some of the better flat form on his rivals. After winning his maiden on the flat Dry Speedfit has delivered very little since. At one point rated at 87 in that code he was uncompetitive in Group company before his rating tumbled and his career failed to produce any more prize money. Could really be anything over these obstacles but looks no match for the selection. Red Cheviot and When Yer Ready have at least seen hurdles before but that recent form suggests meteoric improvement will be needed to beat Silk Drum.
