Verdict

A largely uncompetitive affair, despite the numbers. Malcolm Jefferson and Sue Smith both have a decent record here with their chasers so Retrieve The Stick and the returning Wakhan go on the short-list. Tomorrow's Legend was second at Kelso on his fencing bow and should have some scope while Newspage has won four times between the flags and represents last year's winning stable, though hasn't shown much under Rules so far. SILVER GENT has failed to complete in two of his three chase starts and was well beaten in the other but has been given plenty of time to recover from his latest mishap and won over hurdles off this mark last year. If he can get his act together, he might be a bit better than most of these.
