In depth

Verdict

Small fields are the order of the day this evening. Only five go in this opener and Invictatus, a $140,000 yearling, is making his debut. There are two three-year-olds and Master Recovery has progressed with each run but FAY DAN is preferred. Bob Baffert’s Curlin gelding is also relatively unexposed and fitness is unlikely to be an issue on his reappearance. Mongolian Legend missed the break when last seen in February but has only been placed in three of his nine career starts.
