In depth
Verdict
Bahar Shumaal stands out here, with his biggest dangers reckoned to be Arturius, Skyscape, Assir and, possibly, Elwaary. The selection is a half-brother by Dubai Millennium, to a number of decent winners and there was plenty to like about his debut performance at Newbury, when he was possibly unlucky not to beat Fortunate Isle. That form stands out here and, despite the fact that he wore bandages on his front legs that day and possibly wouldn't want the going too firm, he gets the vote. Arturius cost 230,000 guineas and should improve this year following a modicum of promise shown on his sole start to date, and, with his horses in better for now, Jalwada should be noted in the betting, Assir is nicely-bred and Beauty Talk is a half-brother to Rehearsal, and his breeding is likeable. That last comment also applies to Elwaary, although his stable's runners often need their debut runs. Double Kudos was found out in the Predominate Stakes but his form prior to that was solid at around the 70 mark, but that should not be good enough to score here, all things being equal. Skyscape was disappointing on her return after having shown promise at two, although she looks to possess ability. Bear her in mind but, for the winner, we will stick with Bahar Shumaal.
