Sevenna can round off a good day for Henry Cecil by landing the finale from Victoria Montoya and Detonator but, in truth, not many are ruled out. The Betchworth Kid looks up against it and Dalhaan appears to be on a high enough mark but does represent a yard with a good record in this race. Judgethemoment steps up in grade but the three to follow him home over course and distance all won their next starts so, in light of that, a 2lb rise is far from prohibitive. Mystery Star and Cape Colony both need to improve for this step up in trip so are passed over as there are several with more solid claims. Dolly Penrose comfortably reversed Salisbury form with Victoria Montoya last time but meets her old rival on 7lb terms and it's reasonable to assume that the heavy ground was a big factor in the reversal. Andrew Balding's charge will relish the return to racing on a faster surface and may find a bit more for the application of cheekpieces. Detonator went close in the Ripon Bell-Ringer over a mile and a half and races from the same mark here. He's bred to improve for this longer trip, has only had four starts and has to be on the short-list. The selection has only had two starts so has to prove herself in a battle but looked a smart performer when winning over ten furlongs at Newbury. This represents a very different task for her but she's very well bred and, being by Galileo, should relish the test of stamina that this race offers and she may well be a good deal better than her initial mark. This is a warm contest but Sevenna is taken to retain this prize for her trainer.
