Tregarron can uphold Newbury form over Royal Challenge, with Jadan, Ivory Lace and Divine Spirit best of the rest. Tregarron did not show a lot as a juvenile, but after being given time to strengthen up, made a belated winning reappearance at Newbury in June, battling away to beat Royal Challenge by a head. It was not the greatest of contests, but the latter has since franked the form by making amends at Beverley, albeit on rain-softened ground. Tregarron now gets weight off his main rival and is taken to score again. Willie Supple gave Jadan a great ride at Haydock, holding him up until late on and pouncing near the line. Even so, the handicapper has slapped a six-pound penalty on him that makes his task a bit harder to say the least. Ivory Lace has been a prolific winner this season but is paying the penalty, while Divine Spirit has topweight to overcome. However, Michael Dods has been in top form and would not be sending him all the way down from the north-east for the trip. So, a close handicap is in the offing, but we reckon that Tregarron, who is bigger and stronger than last season, can follow up.
