In depth

Verdict

Zaajer made a promising start behind Bathsheba Bay over 7f here at the start of the month. He’ll know more today and the extra furlong will suit as he’s a half-brother to useful winning miler Convergence. John Gosden holds a strong hand, however, with Newmarket sixth Crossed Baton and CASSINI. It’s the latter who looks the one to be on given he was slowly away and ran green behind the odds-on Dubhe here on debut but was staying on nicely once the penny dropped. He’s closely related to Cunco, who won the Classic Trial here in the spring. Global Style may do better in handicaps but Mekong and Institution are newcomers worth monitoring.
