This appears to be a typicallly strong Sandown maiden and it could fall to Redolent, Rattan and Downhiller are two debutante's that should be watched closely in the betting. Richard Hannon's charge showed tremendous promise when runner up to Fast Company in a Salisbury maiden on his debut. The third has since come out and won and so the form looks rock solid and this is the level the newcomers have to aim for. Downhiller is certainly bred to be decent being by Alhaarth out of a Shirley Heights mare. Middle distances should be his forte next season, but he could be capable of getting involved in the action this evening. Henry Cecil's Rattan is related to some decent American performers and the trainer is no stranger to first time out winning juveniles. Red Merlin and Warming Up can both be expected to improve on the debut runs, but Redolent only has to run up to his first effort to collect first prize and he gets our vote.
