A typically-competitive renewal which sees Boldmere attempt to confirm Market Rasen running with Garrettstown, Muratello and Senior Citizen. It would be no surprise to see the latter come out best of that quartet on today’s terms. Muratello’s trainer, Nigel Twiston-Davies, also has top weight One For Rosie, who was a ready winner at Warwick last month and Nicky Henderson is another trainer who is double-handed. Before Midnight beat Smackwater Jack at Taunton but the runner-up was beaten just over a length and is now 5lb better off. Mill Green stayed on behind stable companion Pistol Whipped at Fakenham and probably needed the run. On The Slopes finished fourth that day but SOUTHERN SAM was second and is better off at the weights with Ned Curtis’ mount. Only five, Oliver Sherwood’s charge ran well against a subsequent Grade 2 winner at Uttoxeter on his hurdling debut and also has form on soft going so ticks plenty of boxes. Third Wind will also handle the ground and shouldn’t be left out of calculations.
