In depth

Verdict

The field appear to be closely matched and a good race is in prospect; Measurement is the suggestion. Richard Hannon's colt receives weight from two of his rivals which could prove handy and he certainly appears to be heading the right way. He was beaten 3 lengths into third on his debut on soft ground at Goodwood after a slow start but confirmed the promise of that run when winning over course and distance on quick ground. That form has taken a few knocks since but he could do no more than win and may be able to follow up. Northern Tour has only raced with cut in the ground so far so there has to be a concern for his chances if the going remains fast. He also has a stiff enough task conceding weight all round. Agente Parmigiano appeals as the biggest threat although he would have a little to prove if the ground came up soft as his worst performance came on that ground at Sandown although that was a Listed race. He won his maiden well at Yarmouth, the second has run out a ready winner since and he should be a major player. Classic Blade stepped up considerably on the form of his debut to win gamely at Doncaster. The placed horses have franked the form and his chance should not be underestimated. Tricky fare but Measurement may have the measure of his rivals.
