      Verdict

      HERE AND NOW’s defeat of Stradivarius at Chester received a massive boost when the second won the Group 2 Queen’s Vase at Royal Ascot last week. On that evidence, a 7lb rise is not excessive and Ralph Beckett’s Dansili colt may well win again. Great Sound is the potential fly in the ointment as he’s a stablemate of Stradivarius and comfortably made a winning debut at Chepstow. He has a middle-distance pedigree so there should be plenty more to come. On To Victory has done nothing wrong this year but is trying a new trip and has top weight. Stone The Crows won over course and distance in April but was only second off a lower mark at Haydock on his handicap debut. Redicean made a winning reappearance in a Redcar maiden but this an altogether more searching examination of his abilities.

      Redicean 5-4fav (8-9) Tracked leaders, pushed along and chased leader over 3f out, ridden to lead inside final furlong, ran on, won at Redcar 1m 2f mdn stks (5) gf in Apr beating Testbourne (8-9) by 2 3/4l, 8 ran.

      Turnpike Trip 25-1 (8-11) Held up mid-division, headway over 2f out, chased winner inside final furlong, kept on and no chance with winner, 2nd of 14, 2 1/4l behind Zubayr (10-0) at Kempton 1m 4f mdn stks (5) pol in May.

      Koeman 16-1 (8-13) In touch, pushed along 3f out, ridden 2f out, stayed on final furlong, nearest finish, 3rd of 8, 2 3/4l behind Galactic Prince (8-13) at Goodwood 1m 4f hcp (4) gf in Jun.

      Here And Now 15-2 (8-8) Tracked leader, pushed along 2f out, switched right inside final furlong, ridden and ran on to lead close home, won at Chester 1m 4f hcp (3) gd in May beating Stradivarius (9-7) by 1/2l, 8 ran.
