There can be little doubting STATE FAIR showed plenty of spirit on his debut and, assuming he behaves himself this time, he has a solid chance to get off the mark. Tiradito and Russian Rock are others with experience that can make this a good test. Kalam Daleel may be the best of the newcomers and is worth noting in the betting market. As a half-brother to a dual Listed race winner, Russian Rock has a likeable pedigree and should not be underestimated. His yard has done well with a small string this season and this fellow is capable of making the rest aware of his presence. Tiradito has impressed his connections at home and, having finished a well beaten second on his Yarmouth debut, he now needs to start proving things on the track. Time may tell that he needs at least another furlong but he still merits plenty of respect here. Nevertheless, State Fair, who is out of a half-sister to Soviet Song, just edges the verdict on this occasion. The Marju colt got loose on his debut and then played up in the stalls before the off. So it was a commendable effort from him to finish fifth at Newbury. The colt has a loyal band of owners, who will no doubt be out in force to cheer him on. So a strong market lean towards State Fair can be taken as a good sign to get involved.
