Both KING’S ADVICE and Weekender ran nowhere near their best in the Ebor at York last time. The latter won over today’s trip at Chelmsford back in May but the former landed the valuable Summer Handicap at Goodwood on his penultimate start. Mark Johnston’s charge gets the vote to return to winning ways in this given he’s already beaten Platitude on a couple of occasions this year and the latter has little chance on these less favourable terms.
King's Advice 7-1 (9-10) Held up mid-division, pushed along 4f out, behind final 3f, 18th of 22, 32 3/4l behind Mustajeer (9-5) at York 1m 6f hcp (2) gf in Aug.
Weekender 14-1 (9-8) Slowly into stride, soon prominent, raced wide 4f, ridden and weakened 3f out, 20th of 22, dist behind Mustajeer (9-5) at York 1m 6f hcp (2) gf in Aug.
Platitude 15-2 (9-13) Steadied start, held up last, headway on outside over 1f out, went 2nd inside final furlong, stayed on towards finish, not reach winner, 2nd of 6, 1l behind Themaxwecan (9-5) at Goodwood 2m hcp (2) gf in Sep.
