A tough one to call and LAURIE GROVE is far from the most confident selection of the day. Mr Rainbow and Bawaardi are both unexposed and capable of improvement. Each merits interest in this company, while the consistent Kingswinford is capable of at least making the frame and giving each-way punters a run for their money if all 17 acceptors stand their ground on the day. The last named is difficult to get right, though. And the fact he is still 2lb higher than his last winning mark has to be a concern. Bawaardi was gelded between his solitary start as a juvenile and making a winning reappearance last month. There was a lot to like about that performance and has to be of interest now he is starting to pay off his huge purchase fee. Mr Rainbow is related to a number of successful types and showed he has inherited the will to win by scoring in bloodless style on debut at Wolverhampton at the start of this month. A mark of 82 looks harsh for one so inexperienced but he is in the hands of very shrewd connections and may have plenty more to offer. However, Laurie Grove makes the most appeal from those with more experience and, given the manner of his improved effort on his first start since also being gelded when he was fourth in a better race at Ascot, Laurie Grove is given the benefit of the doubt in this fiendishly tricky handicap.
