The David Loder-trained Yaahoom is likely to be sent off a short-priced favourite here and is hard to oppose although Always Waining could provide some stern opposition. Much as the selection's decent third behind Graham Island and Strike at Newbury on April 16 has since been devalued, he is a well-bred colt who showed a lot of promise that day and, with that experience under his belt, is clearly the one to beat. Best of the rest could prove to be Always Waining. The Mark Johnston-trained son of Unfuwain, cost only 9,000 guineas, but is related to some decent performers, including Housemaster and Mastermind. Of the others, the Barry Hills-trained Saharan Song has shown some promise in two runs and should appreciate the step up in trip, while Eagle Feathers is one to watch out for in the betting. My Paris has shown improved form of late and, given that there is evidence of plenty of stamina in his pedigree, the step up in trip should hold no fears. Clouds Of Gold was staying on well at the finish at Pontefract last time and now takes a big step up in trip, but it is difficult to say whether this will suit. Overall, though, it is hard to get away from Yaahoom.
