Verdict

Galileo Glass was only beaten a short-head at Windsor last week. CHIEF'S WILL was an impressive winner of a Musselburgh maiden in July and there should be better to come so he gets the nod even though Blenheim Boy gained a surprise victory in a York maiden on ground with plenty of give. Barneys Gift had been racing in minor company in France and was having just his second start for Philip Kirby when landing a soft-ground novices' event at Redcar. Southwell maiden winner Government couldn't quite concede the winner 4lb in a handicap there next time while Wakey Wakey disappointed in a novices' event at Pontefract after a narrow defeat at Thirsk. Redcar novices' winner Flippin' Eck also represents the latter's yard.
