      Verdict

      Baryshnikov has been running well on faster going than he likes so any easing of the ground puts him in contention. COVERDALE has completed a hat-trick in all conditions and has only been raised 4lb after a short-head victory at Haydock. He can improve again and a four-timer beckons though Thirsk maiden winner Merry Minster is another improver who makes his handicap debut from what could prove a lenient mark. Seven-times winner Highwaygrey is on the same mark as when last successful and was a bit unlucky at Pontefract while Chester winner Perfect Play made a bold bid to lead all at Redcar.
