In depth

Verdict

KINGS GAMBIT won this a year ago for which he gets a 5lb penalty. Tom Tate's charge didn't win again but produced some superb efforts in defeat and will take some beating. Monitor Closely won the Great Voltiguer in 2009 beating Mastery but failed to stay when the runner-up subsequently landed the St Leger. He had very little racing last year and may not quite have the pace for this on his reappearance. St Moritz has won three races, all over 7f, but a small field here could play to his strengths and he definitely gets a mile well as shown by his close third in the Royal Hunt Cup. Silver Grey has a poor strike-rate for a filly of her talent and though she has run poorly in two recent events at Lingfield she's a regular at Group 3 level and shouldn't be dismissed.
