My Gacho and Orpen Wide are entitled to plenty of respect in this handicap, but Tim Easterby's Ryedane is on a hat-trick bid and if he is fit enough to do himself justice on his seasonal reappearance then he should take plenty of beating. The selection steps into handicap company for the first time tonight but he showed enough towards the end of last season to suggest that he should be able to get competitive here. He won with a bit in hand last time and he looks to be on an upward curve, so he is taken to score despite his unfavourable draw. My Gacho did not get a clear run at Nottingham last time when a fair third behind Superstitious. He should go well but off his current handicap mark he may find a couple too good. Orpen Wide ran well from a wide draw over the minimum trip at Beverley last time and as he is better over this extra furlong it would be no surprise to see him go close. However, like our selection he has a high draw which will make life tough. Tyrone Sam has been knocking on the door of late but is another with a poor draw, but Breaking Shadow is well-boxed and a place might be on the cards for him on his return to his best trip. However, if Rydane can overcome his high draw he might be capable of making a winning handicap debut.
