Verdict

Vernoon has good claims on this maiden after some good performances recently but we prefer Mark Johnston's newcomer HAJAR with Cabernet Sauvignon the only other of this small field to consider. The selection is related to as Irish 1000 guineas winner among other high class performers. This trip should be just right for him and with the yard sending out a three-year-old debutant winner last week we can expected a nice debut. Benefit of experience can often be a plus in these races so that might be in favour off Vernoon. He came close to banishing the maidens tag last time out in a good looking contest and while there is no doubt this is a lot easier he could be venerable to a smart newcomer like the selection. Cabernet Sauvignon has about four length to find on Vernoon based on their meeting last time out and it's difficult to see that being overturned unless he improves past his rival. A market check is always worthwhile in these races but Hajar should score on debut.
