Verdict

It was a strong claimer that Evanescent won on his reappearance at Catterick and he would have to be in the frame at his best. Runner-up Moonlight Venture hasn't performed badly in subsequent handicaps but is slightly worse off while Layla's Hero, who was a long way behind, has since won a seller at Southwell but looks held. The veteran Victoire De Lyphar has twice finished close behind the latter in sellers but should have the upper hand here at the revised weights. RED REFRACTION (NAP) has contested much better races throughout his career and though he hasn't won since 2014 this drop in class should be to his advantage and he can concede weight all round.
