Verdict
Straffan, Waterline Lover and Exit Smiling are the three for the shortlist in this claimer and the nomination is given to Straffan. The selection missed the break last time but was staying-on powerfully at the finish over 5f at Musselburgh behind Angelofthenorth. The step-up in trip should suit here and from a good draw he should take plenty of beating. Waterline Lover was a fair third behind Bodden Bay at Southwell last time but he never looked like winning that day and was plodding on one-paced at the finish. He is well-drawn here but others are preferred. Exit Smiling would have claims on the pick of his form but he is inconsistent and the suspicion is that he is slightly better over further. Mugeba was a little unlucky at Folkestone when narrowly beaten by Attorney, so he is another that could be capable of claiming some place money if he can reproduce that effort here. However, Straffan has plenty in his favour today and is taken to score.
