Field Spark is taken to land the spoils in the first time visor, with Bahlino and Bond May Day the main dangers. Jeremy Glover's gelding won a Catterick handicap on his reappearance and has run well on a number of occasions in defeat since then, including on his most recent start, when second to The Persuader at Beverley. That looks very solid form, and with the visor expected to sharpen him up a little, he gets the vote here. Bahlino has finished second on his last two starts, and although he was nine lengths behind the winner at Beverley last time, it was still a fair effort and Willie Jarvis' colt should be thereabouts off the same mark. Bond May Day was disappointing at Southwell last time, but is better on turf as he showed when winning a competitive Classified Stakes at Thirsk and he too should be in with a shout if able to reproduce that form.
