Hotham can defy topweight against the likes of Butterfly Bud, Northern Chorus and Highland Song. Hotham has taken time to get the hang of things, but did just that when opening his account at Beverley 15 days ago, making all in the process. The gelding was allowed to take his chance there despite the trainer's reservation about the fast ground, and Noel Wilson has once again stated that his charge will only run if conditions are suitable, but if allowed to turn out, he should make a bold bid to defy a penalty. Butterfly Bud made a valiant attempt to make all over six furlongs at Nottingham just eight days ago, but ran out of steam near the finish and so the drop back in trip is likely to see him go close as well. Northern Chorus has flattered to deceive in the past, and the fitting of a visor has not helped a lot. Indeed he hung right when it mattered at Catterick last time. Highland Song has some ability but on recent evidence can only be supported for a place, with preference for Hotham on this occasion.
