Verdict

Another small field for this maiden and Soulard is taken to break his duck, with Brigadore, Waterloo Corner and Cheviot Hills all considered. The selection has had just three runs to date and clearly did not handle cut last time. Back on a fast surface the Jeremy Noseda-trained colt makes far more appeal and a reproduction of either of his first two starts would be good enough here over a trip that suits. Brigadore was beaten seven lengths at Sandown last time but in doing so made a clear improvement and is capable of better still now over this longer trip, so is not readily discarded. Waterloo Corner has not broken his duck in 10 attempts but his runing here over 10f last month offers some hope to potential backers, though he's probably more likely to battle for the frame along with Cheviot Hills who has stamina to prove over this trip. The selection here then is Soulard.
