There is not much to split Lucky Judge, Skye's Folly and Spitting Image, who are expected to dominate events as things unfold, with Lucky Judge a marginal preference to come out on top. The Allan Swinbank-trained gelding has already stamped his authority over a few of these this season, effectively coping with a variety of going and rising in the weights in the process. The bang-in-form Toni Alcala was no match for the seven-year-old when they met over this trip at Thirsk in May - a race that has prompted a series of game performances form the selection. Toni Alcala has, himself, thrived since then but faces a stiff test under a welter burden this afternoon. The firmer ground and likelihood of a strong pace will help Spitting Image in his bid to reverse course and distance form with Swinbank's charge and he is one to keep tabs on in the betting. Whereas Skye's Folly has dropped to a very fair mark that gives him every chance if he runs up to his best and he should not be underestimated. It is worth bearing in mind that he was conceding 22lb the last time he took on our hope. The weights suggest that it will be much closer this time a market move in favour of the first time headgear working the oracle could be significant. However, as it can sometimes be an expensive mistake to just assume that a visor will make all the difference, it may be the best policy to stick with Lucky Judge, whose attitude is unquestionable and he can land himself a three-timer whilst he remains in such good heart.
