Michael Dods has won this twice in recent years so seven-times winner Kiwi Bay is one to note from his lowly spot in the handicap. Mark Johnston has two runners with an apprentice on board the reappearing Staffhoss and Joe Fanning on the once-raced Southwell winner CLOVERDALE. The latter hasn't exactly been done any favours by the assessor but looked a very scopey type in her first start amd can make enough progress to take this better race. Knight Owl ended the last campaign winning minor handicaps at Nottingham and Leicester. There should be more to come from the son of Rock Of Gibraltar and he'll prove a threat. Nurpur was in fine form with a double last summer, though both victories were on very fast ground. Capaill Liath landed a strong handicap at Ayr last summer and scored twice on Polytrack later so it's a surprise to find him racing from a 9lb lower mark and he looks a threat.
