VITAL ISLAND, runner-up in this in 2021, went one better last year and has been in excellent form between the flags so looks the one to beat. Jet Fighter, placed twice in UK handicaps in the autumn, pulled up over these obstacles on his debut for Peter Maher in February but landed a point at Monksgrange last month and his trainer knows what's required here. The latter remark obviously also applies to Enda Bolger and though his De Nordener was beaten 21 lengths in this a year ago he'll have had the race as his target and Derek O'Connor rides. War Call has won twice between the flags and had Three By Two well beaten at Lisronagh in November but he'll need to find more.
