Island Oscar is not without a chance on his handicap bow but Mutadarek's poor strike rate is off putting. Time Machine has run well enough since winning a novice event to suggest he can figure off his current mark and the same applies to Tijuana Dancer. However, it's interesting to note that the last four winners of this have come from the bottom end of the handicap and it could pay to take a chance with CAPTAIN DECLAN. An also ran on his debut in a bumper in April, Paul Nolan's unexposed four-year-old made a winning start over timber last month and may well be ahead of the handicapper.
