Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott had nine of the original 15 entries between them. The former is represented by Crack Mome, a winner in heavy going in France and a comfortable winner of an ordinary Clonmel maiden from today's rival and subsequent winner Coquine D'aunou last month. He is expected to improve greatly for that experience but may find RUNFORDAVE too good. Gordon Elliott's charge is progressing nicely and was always travelling well until coming down at the last in the race won by Val De Ferbet at Limerick. Compensation awaits though Any Second Now was a 66/1 chance on his racecourse debut in a huge field at Navan but no-one had told him as he produced a tremendous performance to win comfortably. The runner-up has since been beaten at long odds-on but Ted Walsh looks to have a really smart prospect on his hands. Dr Mikey was beaten a neck by the useful Sunni Mae at Cork then went one better on a return visit where he won impressively though he has to concede weight all round. Calino D'airy has more to do than winning a Down Royal maiden but has plenty of scope and is no forlorn hope.
Dr Mikey (IRE) 7-4jfav (11-12) Made all, jumped left 4 out, travelled well before 2 out, asserted before last, easily, won at Cork 2m mdn Soft - Heavy in Dec beating Woods Well (11-12) by 6l, 15 ran.
Any Second Now (IRE) 66-1 (11-7) Mid-division, 7th 3 out, niggled along approaching next, 4th at last, good headway between horses to lead travelling well close home, impressive, won at Navan 2m mdn Yielding - Soft in Dec beating C'est Jersey (11-7) by 2 1/2l, 28 ran.
Calino D'Airy (FR) 8-1 (11-4) Chased leaders, led after 2nd, joined before 2 out, ridden after 2 out, asserted last, strongly pressed close home and held on, won at Down Royal 2m mdn sft in Dec beating Turbojet (11-4) by nk, 16 ran.
Crack Mome (FR) 3-10fav (11-9) Tracked leaders in 3rd, 2nd after 4th, 3rd again from 3 out, switched left approaching 2 out, soon challenged and on terms, led before last, pushed out and stayed on well run-in, won at Clonmel 2m 1f mdn sft in Dec beating Coquine D'aunou (10-11) by 3 1/4l, 16 ran.
Runfordave (IRE) 5-2 (11-7) at Limerick 2m 4f hvy in Dec.
Coquine D'aunou (FR) 9-4 (10-13) Always prominent, led from 6th and made rest, went clear when slight mistake 2 out, pushed out run-in, stayed on well, comfortably, won at Limerick 2m 2f mdn hvy in Dec beating Chambord Du Lys (10-13) by 5l, 15 ran.
