Verdict

Willie Mullins and Gordon Elliott had nine of the original 15 entries between them. The former is represented by Crack Mome, a winner in heavy going in France and a comfortable winner of an ordinary Clonmel maiden from today's rival and subsequent winner Coquine D'aunou last month. He is expected to improve greatly for that experience but may find RUNFORDAVE too good. Gordon Elliott's charge is progressing nicely and was always travelling well until coming down at the last in the race won by Val De Ferbet at Limerick. Compensation awaits though Any Second Now was a 66/1 chance on his racecourse debut in a huge field at Navan but no-one had told him as he produced a tremendous performance to win comfortably. The runner-up has since been beaten at long odds-on but Ted Walsh looks to have a really smart prospect on his hands. Dr Mikey was beaten a neck by the useful Sunni Mae at Cork then went one better on a return visit where he won impressively though he has to concede weight all round. Calino D'airy has more to do than winning a Down Royal maiden but has plenty of scope and is no forlorn hope.
