Lord Windermere took a couple of races to warm up last season which culminated in a surprise victory in the Gold Cup at Cheltenham. He was a very close third behind BOSTON BOB in the Grade 1 PJ Moriarty over 2m5f at Leopardstown earlier and the winner will be a much shorter price here. Willie Mullins' charge ended the last campaign in brilliant style with victories in Grade 1 events at Aintree and Punchestown. He never had the run of the race on his reappearance in the JNwine at Down Royal and can do very much better than that. Both are genuine Grade 1 chasers and though Don Cossack won in novice company at that level his overall form falls just short of what's required. However, he has the scope to go on to become one of the leading chasers and has worked his way up to this with very impressive victories at slightly lower grade. Texas Jack was a nose behind Boston Bob and just in front of Lord Windermere in the Moriarty but didn't quite live up to expectations subsequently, though he did manage a Grade 2 victory at Thurles. The remaining pair have plenty to do.

Lord Windermere (IRE) 20-1 (11-10) Patiently ridden off the pace in rear, driven and headway 3 out, chased leaders on inside next, switched right approaching last, ridden and stayed on to lead flat, edged right towards finish, just held on, won at Cheltenham 3m 2f chs G1 (1) gd in Mar beating On His Own (11-10) by shd, 13 ran.
Rathlin 33-1 (11-8) Settled mid-division, 6th halfway, dropped to rear 5 out, no impression next and soon trailing, last of 7, 50l behind Champagne Fever (11-1) at Clonmel 2m 4f chs Grd 2 (1) hvy in Nov.
