In depth

Verdict

Two potentially high-class young chasers are in opposition here. Un Atout has only been beaten once in five starts, behind stablemate Champagne Fever in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle last year. He only had two rivals when landing the Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle here the following month and has been absent since. He looks certain to make a very useful chaser but has to concede experience and race fitness to MALA BEACH and that may prove beyond him. Gordon Elliott's charge, a dual Grade 2 winner over hurdles, was having his first start since January when chasing home The Tullow Tank on his debut over fences at Fairyhouse last month and that may just give him the edge. The remainder look as though they are playing for places unless there are mishaps with Kilcrea probably booked for third spot after a reasonable debut over fences at Cork.
