Verdict

Goodbye Mr Bond, Capable Guest and Rio Riva all have formbook chances and we shall stick with Goodbye Mr Bond. Eric Alston's six-year-old was a good winner at York last month and while things did not pan out for him at Sandown, there could still be some room for improvement and he is accordingly recommended. Capable Guest is a solid enough conveyance although he has proved particularly difficult to win with in the past. Rio Riva was a good winner of an early season race at Redcar. Although his recent form is not great, he does run well in small fields and should not be too readily discounted here. El Coto continues to run well without winning. There is the suspicion that he could be better with a bit more cut in the ground and he is reluctantly opposed. Regal Royale finished fifth in the Britannia Stakes but failed to build upon that performance when down the field at Newmarket. The visor is applied for the first time. Namroud and Jubilee Street have ability but are inconsistent and will need career bests to score here. A good race in which Goodbye Mr Bond makes most appeal.
