A typically tough sprint handicap in which 20/1 chances have won two of the last three. Tim Easterby's Grissom won the race way back in 2011 and bounced back to a bit of form at Redcar last week while Colonel Mak scored two years ago and has now dropped to his lowest mark since his two-year-old days. Compton Park won a year ago and has dropped to a mark he should be winning from soon. Deauville Prince won a lower-class handicap at Chester and couldn't cope with a 5lb rise here earlier this month while Avon Breeze had to drop down a grade to score at Beverley. BEARDWOOD hasn't run since narrowly beating Dawn's Early Light in a maiden here in April but the runner-up has won twice subsequently and is now rated 95 so Richard Fahey's colt looks very well treated and can complete a double. Stonefield Flyer is very consistent but has been beaten twice off lower marks than this after scoring at Hamilton.
