In depth

Verdict

Prince Egor returned from almost two years off the course to go very close to landing a Nottingham handicap earlier this month and provided the bounce factor does not occur, he can land this off just a 3lb higher mark. He did hang quite noticeably in the closing stages which would be a concern, but that could have been a combination of lack of experience and fitness. Kildare Sun comes here in fine fettle having finished second at Wolverhampton last month. He does not appear as effective on turf as the all-weather which would be a worry. Granary faces a stiffer task here as she likes to dominate her races. That said she was much more effective back to a mile where she stuck on doggedly when challenged. She requires a good break from her stall 11 draw. Young Bertie ran up a sequence of victories towards the end of last season and may just have been feeling the effects on his final outing. He does appear better for a run under his belt. Prince Egor is likely to provide punters with some value gets the nomination.
