Adab, an Invincible Spirit colt is bred for speed and consequently found the 7f trip too far when fading inside the final furlong. The race appeared pretty ordinary with a 150-1 finishing second but with the outing under his belt, the yard in sparkling form, he gets the nod in a weak contest. He has the burden of stall 13 to overcome but in an event where only a few are likely to get competitive, that can be achieved. Solar Spirit shaped with some promise on his debut last backend although those behind have failed to add any substance to the form while the winner, who was head and shoulders above the rest, was well beaten in handicap company since. Atlantic Beach is another speedily bred contender who failed to encounter the clearest of passages on his debut at Catterick and rates a big danger. Of the newcomers Bryan Smart's Strawberry Moon is of real interest, being a half brother to the former smart juvenile Jewel In The Sand, who racked up a hat-trick of wins as a two year old. Mark Tompkins' debutant Sleeping is bred to come into his own over further but a watching brief is best advised where he is concerned. Adab gets the vote to get off the mark at the third time of asking.
